Welcome to Meta-Wiki, the global community site for the Wikimedia projects and the Wikimedia movement in general. Meta-Wiki's discussions range from coordination and documentation to planning and analysis of future Wikimedia activities.

Other meta-focused wikis such as Wikimedia Outreach are specialized projects that have their roots in Meta-Wiki. Related discussion also takes place on Wikimedia mailing lists (particularly wikimedia-l, with its low-traffic equivalent WikimediaAnnounce), IRC channels on Freenode, individual wikis of Wikimedia affiliates, and other places.

January 2014

	28:	Wikimedia Israel letter to the Wikimedia Foundation Board of Trustees regarding the deletion of images from Commons under URAA.
	23:	A new proposal is started to launch WikiGames as a Wikimedia project.
	17:	Round 1 of the Eighth Annual Wikimedia Commons Picture of the Year Competition (to select the best featured picture of 2013) starts. Round 2 will start immediately after Round 1 has finished and votes are counted.
	15:	The candidate submission phase of the 2014 Steward elections has started.
	8:	Wikimania 2014 is now accepting travel scholarship applications. Apply by February 17.
	5:	A new proposal is started to launch WikiRefdesk as a Wikimedia project.
	1:	Proposals submissions for Wikimania 2014 are now being accepted. The deadline is 31 March.
	1:	A new proposal is started to launch Structured Wikiquote as a Wikimedia project.

November 2013

	17:	A new draft of the Trademark policy is proposed, and discussion begins on its talk page.
	14:	Wikimedia Central and Eastern European Meeting 2013 opens in Modra, Slovakia.
	9:	The first Wikimedia Research Hackathon takes place in cities around the world.

October 2013

	29:	Wikidata celebrates its first birthday. Thanks to all who made this possible!
	7:	The new Evaluation portal launches to support the community in evaluation practices.

Wikimedia Foundation, Meta-Wiki, and its sister projects

The Wikimedia Foundation is the overarching non-profit foundation that owns the Wikimedia servers along with the domain names, logos and trademarks of all Wikimedia projects and MediaWiki. Meta-Wiki is the coordination wiki for the various Wikimedia wikis.
