Title: Chat Emotes
Summary: Provides easily extendable graphical emotes in the chat.
Submitted By: Port
Date Submitted: Sat Dec 08, 2012 11:09 am
Description: I've seen the lack of a proper client-sided (now also server-sided) chat emotes mod, and decided to make one. This supports an infinite amount of emotes that you can add easily without fiddling with scripts.

Simply place any .png image in the base/emotes folder (create it if it doesn't exist), such as "whatever.png". Typing [](/whatever) in the chat will cause that emote to appear for everyone who has this add-on and a "whatever.png" file in their emotes folder.

By default, this add-on will not do anything. You need to place emote images in your base/emotes folder.
This is not a server-sided add-on. You will only see an emote if you have the add-on and the emote file.

@WarOfCake

Check the Blockland Forum thread (http://forum.blockland.us/index.php?topic=191873.0). Port made a server-sided version which, unlike this one, is not on RTB, and I doubt he's going to upload it here.

I don't understand at all how this is useful. It's client side, so the specified image has to be in every player's folder on that server PLUS it has to have the same name. This will get very confusing, very quickly.

Port, any chance you could use the forums style instead of reddit's (/r/f7u12, /r/mlp) style ([](/whatever))?

Also guys, if you want an emote pack, get one from his BLF thread, found here: http://forum.blockland.us/index.php?topic=191873.0

@SWAT433, there is no edit button in-game, but there is one on the site (http://forum.returntoblockland.com).

..wtf is the point of this if someone would require the mod/your emote images to see the emotes.

Wont work...

Make it serverside, people who join ur server download your emotes & stuff

also make it in controls so you can open up a little menu to do which one

This seems really useless as a client-sided add-on instead of a server-sided add-on.

This seems kinda pointless unless emotes given.

Why would somebody get the .png file though? I mean, there needs to be 'some' sort of way to download the server ones. Otherwise, there is no point to this. Good idea, and good scripting, but there isn't really a way for somebody to do that.

Also, are there some of them already within the mod?

Anyways, 3/5
